A blessed speech

1 Peter 3: 10 (NKJV) "For he who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit."
It has been said that those who know how to speak blessing over others are like a bubbling brook or flowing river.
Yet anyone who has lived near a river knows that a river, full of torrential rain, can also flow out of control.
I am in a season where I feel like God is working on me .. and specifically, what I speak.
A measured word of grace instead of a critical word of judgement .. an encouragement instead of the opposite .. and in some conversations .. perhaps silence .. so others can vent and feel safe.
I recently said something, for which I sent a harried text, which would have been a real discouragement to the listener.
Words do matter.
Although we live in this beautiful country where free speech reigns, we likewise hold dear the scriptures that guide the flow of the stream from our souls.
Lord, help me to speak with consideration, or to be silent, and sense the moving of the Holy Spirit accordingly.
