Progress is sometimes gradual

Curled up on my couch, it occurs to me that I am slowly .. I think .. gaining on my diabetic journey.

I'm now at 9 pounds of weight loss and feeling a little better .. yet I know it is not something one just does and quits.

It's a lifestyle.

I admit it is a tough choice .. breaded, fried chicken, or grilled chicken, carbs or veges, healthy snacks like apples and cheese, or fat loaded packaged crackers.

Frustration sometimes settles in, as hunger hits and I check my sugar with my meter and realize that nope, it's not time to eat yet.

Drink water.

Or black coffee.

I've also added physical fitness to my journey (or should I say .. re-added it.)

It's no longer a "wait and see" or "I've got other things to do."

Sitting all the time is terrible for your system, we are told.

So I have to compensate for that.

The mindset, I believe, is most important.

Will I overcome? Yes, I will. I'm steadfast determined that I'm not going to be adding insulin to my routine.

Mindset.

Another note on this.

Being present to the moment (putting down the phone in conversations) helps lower your stress level.

I've noticed that when I put my phone down, I see the colors and environment around me.

Believe it or not, it is a beautiful world.

The outlook I have can either help my journey be a productive one, or it can hinder my progress.

This weekend, I've enjoyed some family, friend and community time.

Getting out likewise helps the mindset.

No more excuses.
